FAQs

What types of birth do you support?
I’m here to honor birth in all forms and support your unique birth experience: I support hospital deliveries, home births, birth center deliveries, planned surgical/ C-sections, VBACs, and medicated and unmedicated births. My role is to support your birth plan — no judgment, only care.

How do I schedule a consultation with you?
You can book a free consultation emailing me at danidoulalosangeles@gmail.com. I’ll answer your questions and help you decide if we’re the right fit. I’m always happy to intro you to other nearby doulas in case you’re looking for something different.
-
Do you offer postpartum overnight doula support?
I come visit you postpartum but I don’t provide postpartum overnight doula support. I’m so happy to connect you with postpartum doulas / newborn care specialists / baby nurses who can support you once baby has arrived.
-
Is a doula covered by insurance in California? Do you work with insurance?
While I don’t work directly with insurance, some insurance plans or FSAs/HSAs reimburse doula fees. I can provide documentation to help you submit for possible reimbursement. I also offer my rates on a sliding scale to make my services more accessible.
-
What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A doula offers emotional and physical support, while a midwife provides clinical care. I work alongside midwives, OB/GYNs, and nurses in LA to ensure you have the best support possible during your birth experience. Doulas often enter the picture earlier in the labor experience than clinical care providers and support with uninterrupted physical, emotional, and informational support throughout labor and delivery.
-
How much does it cost to work with you?
I’m currently offering flexible pricing while I’m working on my DONA certification. My pricing is sliding scale, I’m taking heavily discounted clients ($500-800) and a few pro bono clients while I complete my certification. After I’ve certified, I’ll continue to offer sliding scale pricing. I’d be happy to talk about your budget for a doula and see if we’re a good fit.

Do you offer childbirth education or birth planning sessions?
Yes and yes! Working with me as your doula means we’ll devote some of our prenatal sessions to your learning: about pregnancy, anatomy, the stages & phases of labor, coping techniques & evidence-based information to help you make informed choices. We will discuss your intentions and preferences around birth, comfort measures, labor and postpartum to collaborate on drafting a birth plan. My goal is that our planning sessions empower you as a confident and informed participant in your own care & birth experience.

Do you offer doula services in my part of Los Angeles?
I’m based in West Hollywood and take clients within 20 miles - so I serve the greater Los Angeles area, including Santa Monica, Malibu, Brentwood, Westwood, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, East LA, Hollywood, Pasadena, Burbank, up and down Ventura Boulevard - the neighborhoods keep going. Reach out and we can find out if we’re a good geographic fit! If not, I know doulas across Los Angeles and can connect you with a doula near you.

What’s included in your birth doula package?
My offerings adapt to the needs of each particular client - whether you’re looking for a sounding board, childbirth education, everything but the birth or full & consistent support & prep before & during your labor. While the details may shift, the vibe is always: to provide grounded, compassionate, and personalized support that helps you arrive at birth informed, empowered, and cared for throughout your journey.
